Meaning "jade dew" in Japanese, Gyokuro is the highest quality tea in the region. It is shaded by 80% for 3 weeks before harvest. In this way, Gyokuro, which gets very little sun, maintains a low tannin content and a high amino acid content. This gives the tea a soft and sweet taste. With only a few kilograms produced from each garden per year, Gyokuro is not a tea to be drunk every day, nor is it for quenching thirst or aiding digestion. It is recommended to be drunk in small cups, savoring its taste.
